English Meditation Class

This drop-in class is open to everyone and includes guided meditation, a brief teaching on the topic and inspiring chanted prayers. The course is based on the fundamental text for Buddhist meditation practice entitled The New Meditation Handbook by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso (available from Tharpa publications). Classes are self-contained; no previous registration necessary.

Each class takes you step-by-step through one essential Buddhist meditation practice, presenting them in a simple and practical way.

Current topic: meditation on renuncation, the ‘mind of definite emergence’ in three parts:

  1. Meditation on wishing for inner peace;
  2. Meditation on Basic Buddhist view;
  3. Meditation on realising our real situation

Classes are taught by Buddhist monk Gen Ananda unless stated otherwise.

 

Gen Kelsang Ananda is a German Buddhist monk and longtime disciple of Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. Since 2003 he is the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Berlin as well as the National Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition for Germany. Gen Ananda has many years of experience in teaching Buddha’s teachings of Sutra and Tantra, and has studied and practiced them for more than over twenty years. He is known for his good heart, his practical understanding and his accessibility.
