Excerpt From How We Turn Our Life, Chapter "Learning, Other appreciate "
"Our instinctive view, that we are more important than any other. The view of all enlightened beings is, however,, that the others are important. Which of these two views is more useful? Since beginningless time we were life after life slaves of our spirit of self-esteem. We trusted him unconditionally and obeyed his every command, because we believed, that the way, to solve our problems and to find happiness, is, to put us in first place. We have worked so hard and so long for our own good, but what we have to show now? Have we solved all our problems and found the lasting happiness, after we yearn? No. It is obvious, that us to track our own, selfish interests misled. After we have given in so many lives of our self-esteem, it is now to recognize the time, that this simply does not work. Now is the time, to change the object of our appreciation and not ourselves, but to cherish all living things.
All enlightened beings have discovered, that they experienced true peace and happiness, by tasks self-esteem and only other, appreciated. We implement the methods, they taught, then there is no reason, why should we not be able, to imitate them. We can not expect, to change our mind overnight. But by patiently and consistently implement the instructions on the appreciation of others and at the same time accumulate merit, Clean negativity and receive blessings, we can gradually replace our ordinary self-appreciative attitude by the lofty attitude, all living beings cherishes.
To achieve this, we must not change our way of life, but we have to change our views and intentions. Our common vision, that we are the center of the universe and that other people and things acquire meaning mainly from, how they affect us. For example, our car is important, because it just belongs to us, and our friends are important, because they make us happy. But strangers do not seem to be as important, because they do not affect our happiness directly and when the car of a stranger breaks or stolen, makes us nothing. As we will see in later chapters, based this self-centered view of the world in ignorance and does not match with reality. This view is the source of all our ordinary, selfish intentions. Just because we think: "I am important, I need this, I have earned the ", we commit negative actions, leading to an endless barrage of problems for ourselves and others.
By putting these instructions, we can develop a realistic view of the world, based on the understanding of the equality and interdependence of all living things. When we look at every single living being as important, We are all against developing naturally good intentions. While the spirit, the only appreciates himself, is the basis of all impure samsaric experiences, is the spirit, the other appreciates, the foundation of all good qualities of enlightenment. "
